 My favorite INFLUENSTER voxbox
This post is about a Free box from a program called Influenster.
Influenster is  basically a program where you can receive a box of free goodies ranging from personal hygiene to makeup.
This is will be my entry to the Blogstar Virtualvox badge contest. I will be blogging about a voxbox that I personally loved and my experience using the product that came in it.
I was sent Palmolive softtouch dishsoap to review along with coupons to share with a friend.
Things I loved about this particular box:

  • It was a household product that I actually used
  • There was coupons (who doesn't love them?.)
There were 2 different scents of soap.Things I loved about the Palmolive soap FULL SIZE samples.
  • Loved both of the scents
  • kept my hands UBER soft.
  • got dishes clean without the use of harsh chemicals such as bleach and washing powder.
Overall this was an excellent program and look forward to testing more products in the future.

New ideas for a blog , Whole 30 , new career path etc.

wow! it has been a very long time since i have blogged .  I am still doing the natural hair thing . Guess I have slacked on blogging about it.
Right now I have been focusing on my fitness. I'm currently doing whole 30. A body cleansing regimen where there is no dairy, sugar ,nuts ,beans or starches allowed. 3 meals a day. which mean.. YOU GUESSED IT .. little to no snacking. No matter how bad you want to.
I also have a new idea for a blog . The blog name is going to be Moresaladplease.com . Kind of crazy how  I came up with the name  but I will save the explanation for when I actually get everything up and running. Which leads me to the next topic .
I have found a new career field. that i will be going to school for  which is..... pharmacy tech. The program is 4 months. Im pretty excited that its not that long. I leave august 5th to San Diego.

Im really trying to think about if i want to create the site before I leave. If i do I won't be able to post for 4 months ( maybe from my phone).  Let me know what you think.

Have a great evening.

IM A JUICING /SMOOTHIE ADDICT AND I LOVE IT!!

I Started juicing a month or so ago and now I Can't stop! couldn't stand grocery shopping with mom but now go to the store just for fruits and vegetables. Spinach , Avocado and beets are among my favorite things to juice/make smoothies out of. Here is a juice that I made today.
Here is a picture of the juice after it was done. The color is quite unfavorable but it tasted delicious!
Im calling this "The Detox Juice".
I started to follow this recipe from www.divascancook.com . Which was supposed to be homemade vegetable juice but instead turned into a detox.
 Here is the original recipe.

  • 2 gala apples
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 orange
  • 3-4 large kale leaves
  • 1 cup blackberries
The website also has some substitutions:
  •   substitute kale for spinach
  • substitute  blackberries with blueberries
  • substitute apples with pears
  • substitute oranges with clementines
Honestly, I veered all the way off with the recipe.
Here are the approximate measurements of the detox juice.

1 apple ( any kind)
2 carrots
3-4 cups of baby spinach
1 cup blueberries
1 tbsp blackberries
1 pear.

Couldn't find clementines at the store so i just skipped them all together.

If you are looking to detox this juice would be perfect because it also tastes yummy !. I would recommend staying close to a bathroom.though.

leave any comments ?s or suggestions below

Enjoy!

My weight loss regimen and how I keep the weight off

Alot of people have been asking about my weightloss and what I did to lose  almost 40 lbs. In this post I will  share how I  lost the weight and how I maintain my current weight.

I wrote a blog post on hairlista.com a year or so ago going into my diet and weightloss regimen.
I managed to dig it up from hairlista.
here it is.

A journey to a better me!

I have been on this weight loss journey since December 6, 2010. When i went to the Doctor and she told me i had gained 20 lbs since i had went to Utah for job corps. I could not believe it so i took action like ASAP! I wanted to share some things that have helped me lose about 14lbs in 3 months that maybe you will find helpful.

Find staple foods:

Here are some of mine that are healthy yet still delicious!

To eat:

  • Special K cereal bars
  • Special K cereal
  • oatmeal (maple & brown sugar= YUM!)
  • Crunchpack pre-sliced apples
  • Special k fruit crisps
  • Greek yogurt/ breyers Yocrunch parfaits or regular yogurt will do.
  • Smart ones tv dinners

To Drink:

  • WATER
  • Tropicana 50 blueberry pomagranate /pineapple mango juice
  • crystal light or hawaiin punch to go juice packets
  • Tropicana 50 blueberry pomagranate/pineapple mango juice
  • I slowly stopped drinking soda but if you must seltzer water & lemon is a great alternative ! Tastes just like 7-up without all the added sugar.

*Tips*

Buy things that give you the illusion that you are eating dessert .

(ie. red velvet flavored yogurt , strawberry/blueberry special k fruit crisps taste just like a poptart.)

Don’t let anyone change your mind!

* There was fried chicken for dinner one night and we had leftover grilled chicken from the night before Mom: ” It’s only one piece it’s not gonna hurt” I ate the grilled chicken instead. The next night i think we had pizza & I did indulge:)

Invest in exercise equipment

*Me my mom & my dad chipped in and bought and exercise bike/eliptical bike from big 5. Look in the sunday paper GOOD DEALS! We also have an ab lounge to work out on as well. It is really an advantage owning equipment because about an hour after i ate that pizza i was outside working it off!

Use your resources

*Time warner cable has on demand tv service which allows you to watch a variety of different programs from your home. There is a section for Exercise tv. I have been doing the 10lb Slimdown w/Chris Freytag. This program is a 30 day program which allows you to print out a customized workout plan according to each day & all the programs are right there ON DEMAND.

last but not least!

Diet & Exercise go hand & hand!

* I found myself losing weight but not at the rate that I wanted to when i first started my weight loss journey I lost 9 lbs fast but after that i maintained my weight but didn’t lose much why?? because i wasn’t exercising. Find the time to exercise even if it’s in 1O minute increments 3 times. 30 minutes a day is the recommended amount . It should be everyday but for me 3xs /wk is good. WITH HEALTHY DIET & EXERCISE IT WILL PAY OFF!!!!!!!!

HWLJ!

Hopefully these tips help . Would love to know how  they work for you guys.
good luck.

Okay so I am on quite the posting spree.

I have found the perfect wash day cocktail for  my very 4c very thick afro textured hair!
I got this recipe for PGniecey on Youtube but ran out of product so  I decided that i would make it from products that I already have.

In nieceys video she uses:
  • Suave almond & shea butter conditioner
  • Garnier fructis dryness reversal treatment
  • Jojoba oil
  • Honey
My version of neiceys deep conditioner:
  • Shea moisture restorative conditioner
  • Garnier Fructis dryness reversal treatment
  • Honey
Here is my wash day step by step (usually on a monday)

  1.  Tropic Isle Jamaican Black Castor Castor Oil red pimento oil treatment
  • Apply as if I am oiling my scalp
  • Braid hair in 4 sections.
  • apply plastic cap to trap heat for 20 minutes.
  • after 20 minutes  section by section  wash with shea moisture moisture retention shampoo
  • Apply deep conditioner
  • put back into 4 sections
  •  Hairtherapy wrap for 30-45 minutes
    •    RINSE THE DEEP CONDITIONER OUT (all caps because I had a bad experience because I didnt).
  • Apply water based leave in (for me its neutogena triple moisture leave in cream)
  • Style as usual

Hope you enjoyed this post
